How Stubborn Muscle Tension Causes Tennis Elbow

Very often it’s the gradual build-up of muscle tension that causes the relentless tightness that perpetuates the vicious Tennis Elbow cycle.

It may be a big part of what’s keeping you stuck in the Tennis Elbow Triple Trap!

In the simplest sense, your tendon is at the mercy of your muscle…

It’s your muscle that does the contracting and relaxing – The muscle generates the force which then pulls on the tendon.

But There’s More To How Muscle Tension Causes Tennis Elbow Than Meets The Eye

As many Tennis Elbow sufferers discover, it’s not simply a matter of stretching that stubborn tension away!

When we talk about muscle tension or tightness, we’re not so concerned with the kind that comes and goes…

You know the kind of tension or stiffness you get temporarily from stress, or inactivity, or sometimes after too much activity?

The kind of tension that relaxes if you stretch a little, you take some time off from whatever you’re doing – or get a good nights sleep?

Not that kind…

Instead, we’re talking about the stubborn, on-going, chronic muscle tension, which stays there day after day that’s probably causing your Tennis Elbow.

The kind you may have found you can’t seem to stretch out – No matter how hard you try.

Why Can’t You Just Stretch The Tension Causing Your Tennis Elbow Away!?

Well, the reason it can be so hard, is that the stubborn resistance isn’t really just tension – there’s something hidden under that tension, so to speak.

It’s when your muscle has restrictions in it – because layers within the muscle are getting stuck together.

And those restrictions reduce your muscle’s flexibility and lead to more tension.

Let me repeat that: This binding of layers within your muscle increases tension, it restricts your muscle – and, although it feels like tension – it’s really more than just tension.

And the bottom line is, it just doesn’t respond very well to stretching – Not stretching by itself, anyway!

    Hello Allen,
    I am still not sure whether I have tennis elbow or not. My GP thought that yes, the orthopedist said prob no..
    However, I’d like to ask you if you have any experience treating people who developed this problem because of walking dogs, i.e. the dog pulling on the lead, causing pressure etc. If yes, do you have any recommendations or would you consider creating an article or video including this group of patients?
